What kind of diamond ceramic grinding wheel is needed to better meet the needs of the advanced ceramic field? According to our company's more than 20 years of professional experience in producing diamond ceramic grinding wheels, the factors that determine the quality of diamond ceramic grinding wheels can be summarized from two aspects: diamond abrasive and binder design:


1. Diamond abrasive


First, the exposed protrusions evenly distributed on the working surface of the grinding wheel, the diamond abrasive that plays a cutting role. If we consider the holding force of the binder on the diamond abrasive, the crystal form of the abrasive should be as irregular as possible, and the surface should be rough; in addition, the coarseness of the diamond will directly affect the surface roughness of the workpiece, the grinding efficiency and the loss of the abrasive. Therefore, under the condition of meeting the requirements of the workpiece, the coarse particle size should be used as much as possible to improve the grinding efficiency and reduce the loss of the mold.


2. Binder design


The second is the ceramic binder responsible for bonding the abrasive. Due to the poor thermal stability of diamond, it will oxidize above 700°C in the air, and the compressive strength will decrease significantly after heating at 900°C in a protective atmosphere, so the firing temperature of the ceramic binder cannot be too high. In addition, the bonding strength of the binder must also meet the working strength requirements of the grinding wheel, the expansion coefficient must match the thermal expansion coefficient of the abrasive, and the thermal conductivity cannot be too poor.


In addition, the most important thing about the binder is that the holding force of the diamond abrasive must be strong enough - because the diamond itself has strong compressive resistance and long service life, so in order to give full play to the advantages of diamond abrasives, reduce costs, and increase the concentration of diamond abrasives in the grinding wheel, a reasonable binder formula design is very critical.
